At American Spine Center, diagnostics is a crucial step in our comprehensive protocol.
EMG is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). We insert props in the affected muscles to study the signals during rest and during function. This studies the integrity of the muscles and nerves and measures the severity of it.
Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)
An Electromyography (EMG) test is often performed alongside an NCV test. We use surface electrodes to measure the speed and strength of signals traveling between two or more points. This diagnose if there is any nerve damage and the severity of it.
A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) is a test to provide snapshot of bone health. The test identifies osteoporosis, determines the risk for pathological fractures, and measure response to osteoporosis treatment.
